Your suspension is the springs, shock absorbers, bushes, arms and joints that keep the wheels in contact with the road and soak up bumps. It also keeps the car stable when you brake, steer and corner. When parts wear, the car feels less settled and stops taking longer than it should.
Worn suspension does more than make the ride uncomfortable. It lengthens your stopping distance, wears your tyres unevenly and can make the car feel unstable in corners. Knocking or clunking over bumps, the car pulling to one side, bouncing after a speed bump, or uneven tyre wear are all worth getting checked early.
We look at the whole setup, springs, shocks, bushes, arms and steering, so the fix solves the problem rather than treating one symptom. Worn parts often have a knock-on effect, so checking the lot means you are not back in a few weeks for the next thing. We tell you what is causing it before any work goes ahead.
We work on cars and vans of all makes. Many suspension jobs are a same-day turnaround, though it depends on the parts and the vehicle, so we confirm the timeline once we have had it on the ramp. You get a free quote first, with no work started until you have agreed it.
Suspension and brakes work together for how the car stops and handles, and we do both under one roof at 59 Garman Rd in Tottenham Hale. That means one visit to get the car safe and settled again, not a trip between separate garages. We are open every day from 08:00 to 22:00.
Drivers come to us from across North London, including Seven Sisters, Wood Green and Edmonton. If the car knocks over bumps or does not feel planted, call 07349 766832 or message on WhatsApp and we will take a look.
Signs your suspension needs work
Good to know
Why does my car pull to one side?+
It can be suspension, steering or tyres. We check the whole setup so the fix actually solves it.
Can I keep driving with worn suspension?+
You can often still drive, but you should not leave it. Worn shocks and springs lengthen your stopping distance and make the car less stable when you brake or corner, and a broken spring or failed shock can fail an MOT. Worn parts also chew through tyres unevenly, which costs you more later. It is safer and usually cheaper to get it checked sooner.
What makes a clunking or knocking noise over bumps?+
A knock over bumps is often a worn bush, a tired shock absorber, a failing drop link or a worn suspension arm. The noise alone does not tell you which, so guessing risks replacing the wrong part. We put the car on the ramp, check the whole setup and find what is actually loose or worn before quoting, so the repair fixes the noise for good.
We also offer brake repair, diagnostics and full car servicing in Tottenham Hale and across North London.
